PRIMER COATING FOR MICROCEMENTO | ZENCIMENT

Zenciment Primer is a specialized product line developed to consolidate and reinforce substrates prior to the application of microcemento. When surfacing a new area, proper preparation is the ultimate key to achieving the finest results.

For this reason, Zenciment has engineered a range of primers that stabilize the base layer and significantly enhance the adhesion of microcemento to the existing surface. Applied right before the microcemento layers, this coating fills pores (pinholes) while protecting and isolating the substrate.

This product line is purposely designed to optimize the application of the initial microcemento coats on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Implementing this foundational step is essential to achieving a professional, high-quality finish.

PRODUCT

MICROCEMENTO PRIMER FOR ABSORBENT SURFACES | ZEN PRIMER 100

This specialized primer line consolidates and stabilizes the substrate while regulating surface absorption. It is engineered to achieve optimal surface preparation before proceeding with the microcemento application.

MICROCEMENTO PRIMER FOR NON-ABSORBENT SURFACES | ZEN PRIMER 300

This specialized primer contains fine quartz aggregates (sand) to create an ideal mechanical grip for microcemento on non-porous and low-absorption surfaces. The product is supplied in a ready-to-use formulation for immediate application.

ACRYLIC TILE JOINT FILLER | ZENCIMENT JOINTER

This specialized acrylic-based filler is specifically engineered to fill and level the grout lines (juntas) of ceramic and mosaic (gresites) tiles, primarily tailored for spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. The product delivers excellent adhesion, high water resistance, and outstanding protection against environmental moisture.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO USE A PRIMER FOR MICROCEMENTO?

Applying a primer is the foundational step that every professional applicator must master to achieve the highest quality finish. Acting as an essential adhesion bridge (puente de adherencia), this product provides several outstanding advantages:

  • Enhanced Adhesion: It significantly improves the bond between the microcemento layers and the substrate being coated.

  • Consolidated Protection: It reinforces and seals the substrate, offering optimal protection for both porous (absorbent) and non-porous surfaces.

  • Optimized Workflow: Formulated as a fast-drying product, it streamlines the application process, making subsequent microcemento placement and finishing much easier.

  • Substrate Moisture Barrier: It prevents the final decorative finish from absorbing moisture rising from the structural base beneath.

WHEN IS IT NECESSARY TO USE A PRIMER?

When talking about primers, we are referring to substrates that require careful preparation or surfaces that have recently been stripped of old coatings (decapados). While primers can be applied to virtually any substrate, they deliver different solutions based on the specific characteristics of the application area.

The use of a primer is particularly critical in the following scenarios:

  • On Porous (Absorbent) Surfaces: This is the most common scenario. Here, the primary function of the primer is to seal the substrate, preventing it from absorbing excessive amounts of material when the applicator begins putting down the initial coats of microcemento.

  • On Smooth (Non-Absorbent) Surfaces: A primer is highly recommended when the target surface lacks the profile needed for proper mechanical bonding. This typically occurs on smooth, slick materials such as glass, metal, or glazed tiles.

  • On Weak or Degraded Surfaces: Application is also strongly advised on soft, chalky, or heavily deteriorated bases. In these cases, the area must be thoroughly cleaned, pre-treated, and primed so the substrate can absorb the microcemento uniformly.

  • Moisture Protection: This provides an extra, essential layer of protection for substrates that require advanced safeguarding against environmental or residual moisture.
